Asset-Based and Citizen-Led Development (ABCD) Masterclass
Last year, we had the pleasure of attending the Beyond Painting Classrooms workshop facilitated by Space 4 Impact. We were inspired by the ABCD approach and are excited to share this with you!
What is ABCD?
ABCD refers to Asset-Based and Citizen-Led Development. It is a way of thinking and also an approach to development work – a conscious effort to focus on strengths, abilities, opportunities, talents and gifts as a foundation or starting point. It is an orientation to use what we have and build from there.
This is development from the inside-out. In community development, communities could use their assets as leverage (bargaining power) when engaging stakeholders and forming partnerships.
The Masterclass
Experience how to blend ABCD with a range of powerful strengths-based approaches to community work and complementary methodologies to create powerful outcomes.
Anyone who is engaged in working with communities – development practitioners, CSI Managers, government departments, NPO staff – will find the ABCD Masterclass insightful, practical and fun, and will have a set of tools to use in their context.
Join us from Tuesday 12th – Thursday 14th March 2019 at Stoep Startup for a great experience of learning and sharing! Contact Janine Ward ([email protected]) or Anne Timms ([email protected]), or click here for more information.
