In Hard Times, It’s Even More Important To Be Generous
Currents of generosity run deep within each and every one of us. Studies have uncovered evidence that humans are biologically wired for generosity, and history shows that despite our often selfish tendencies, in times of crisis humanity is able to come together to help each other survive and get through challenging times.
Brownie Points has paired up with #GivingTuesdaySA – a generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organisations to transform their communities and the world.
Celebrated on the Tuesday following the widely recognised shopping events Black Friday & Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday & end of-year gifting. This movement has inspired millions of people worldwide to volunteer, perform countless acts of kindness, and donate their voices, time, money, and goods.
Giving Tuesday has decided that waiting for the end of the year to give back is not an option, the time is NOW! #GivingTuesdayNow a global day of giving and unity, set to take place on May 5, 2020, as an emergency response to the unprecedented needs expressed by communities and leaders around the world during COVID-19.
“We believe that generosity has the power to unite and heal communities in good times and bad. A global threat like COVID-19 touches every person on the planet, and it presents an opportunity to come together as a global community.”
The Brownie Points website is there to inspire & assist you in finding a cause that could use your help during this time. People can show their generosity in a variety of ways during #GivingTuesdayNow-whether it’s helping a neighbor, advocating for an issue, sharing a skill, or giving to causes, every act of generosity counts no matter how small!
Giving Tuesday is also building a map to highlight generosity worldwide. Join us by sharing your story of giving back tagging @Browniepointssa & using the hashtag #givingtuesdaynow and help us cover the globe with kindness.
